We ran in the State Championship Run today and Duncan won the Senior 1D Championship.
We ran for buckles, money and Wild Cards.
We got some of each.
Our new tack was approved of by all who attended.
Now, I am sure the guy from NJ is gonna say I am bragging, but, you know what?????
We won and that is note worthy in my mind.
I think we will be attending the Worlds in 2011 and that is going to be
FUN, see, running barrels is all about having fun. The money isn't bad either.

I don't know anything about barrel racing other than on the very small local level... What are Wild Cards?
Wild Cards are given to the winners in each time division.
ReplyDeleteThe divisions are 1d, 2d,3d and 4d here in RI and the Classes are Youth, Open and Seniors (over 50)
Now, in 2011 I can go to the Worlds on the win today of our time division. BUT, say, that in 2012 I don't run, but am still a member of National Barrel Horse I can use one of my Wild Cards to go anyway. It's like a get out of jail card LOL.
It is a big deal to have Wild Cards and they are worth money and you can sell them if you so chose. Mine are framed and hanging on the wall, I mean how many Standardbreds have won Wild Cards?
That is pretty cool! It's like earning a back-up qualifying score I guess, haha!

That's exactly what it is if he doesn't qualify I can use a Wild Card and still go.
ReplyDeleteDuncan has a HUGE fan club from all over the USA. He is such a wonderful represetative of everything that is great about the breed. The barrel racing thing is so far out of the box of what he was bred to do it just a really cool thing. A friend was with me at the National this year and she had been walking him around and he was all quiet, then they placed the barrels where he could see them and he woke up and she could not believe him. I told her that barrels are fun and Duncan really likes to have fun.
